Jennifer
Louise Banks earned her B.A. in Pan African Studies from Kent
State University. She attributes her poetic gifts and artistic
inspiration to her grandmother, Mary Louise Carter, her guardian
angel, who has passed on the torch to fight for social justice.

Theresa
Gonzales came to CSUMB as a freshman and has been here four
years. She is a Human Communication major with a concentration
in Woman's Studies, and is also a creative writer. She has been
writing for 10 years and her 'drug of choice' is poetry.

Ann
Gorman is a Senior at California State University Monterey
Bay, majoring in Human Communication with an emphasis in Creative
Writing. She is a poet, short story writer, and a lover of the
written word.
|
|
Nancy
Phillips arrived at CSUMB to study music. A singer, she came
to the Human Communication Department to learn how to write lyrics,
which she sets to music.

Laura
Torres is a senior at California State University Monterey
Bay, and the mother of a six year old. She will graduate in May
2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies, and hopes to
eventually teach highschool and further her education with a Masters
degree.

Poet
Frances Payne Adler is the Director of the Creative Writing
and Social Action Program at CSU Monterey Bay. She is the author
of four books of poetry. With photographer Kira Carrillo Corser,
Adler has four social action art exhibitions travelling the country,
most recently, "A Matriot's Dream: Health Care for All." frances_payne_adler@monterey.edu

Photographer
Kira Carrillo Corser is the Visual Art Consultant for the
Institute for Human Communications at CSUMB. In addition to her
social action art projects and books, Corser's fine art photography
has shown in the Museum of Photographic Arts, the Ansel Adams
Gallery, and the Smithsonian Institute. Main page visual art by

Carol
Amelia Lasquade is the CARE Coordinator and an EOPS Counselor
at MPC. She is committed to equity education and is an advocate
for single parents because she, too, was a single mom on welfare
from 1979 - 1985. Carol states strongly that "The only difference
between my students and myself is that I had the opportunity to
complete my educational goals. As a result of CAlWORKs time limits,

Kathryn
Melanephy is
a current graduate from California State University Monterey Bay,
May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications,
Multimedia, Applied Computing. She co-created and designed this
site. Kathryn will start her career at TCT Tech in the summer

Mountford is
a current graduate from California State University Monterey Bay,
May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications,
Multimedia, Applied Computing with Distinction. She is
the mother of two daughters aged 10 and 8. She co-created
