Santa Rosa |
| It
all starts in a small town of the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. Santa Rosa
is located one hundred kilometers from the City of Guadalajara. It is
a magical small town full of life and, like life, Santa Rosa is always
going through changes. When the wind blows in el tiempo de las aguas (rain
season) and the branches of the great sabinos move a funny noise is made.
What people don't know is that the noise is not only a symbol of rain,
it is also a sign that the story of the small magical town is about to
be told.
A wise man once told me that, No one really knows who funded the town or why the name Santa Rosa. Since the town is divided by an arroyo, people assume that the first settlers were driven there because of the water. The history goes back as far as the times of the Hacendados. Things didn't changed much during that time; the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Let's move on to the time when real things started happening in Santa Rosa. In 1950 the first school was built. The school was designed to educate the adult population and the children at the same time. The next big change took place in 1963 when the two lane interstate road was made which passes right next to the town. In 1966 after the construction of the road, electricity was the next technological step. Potable water was the next big change in Santa Rosa, but this did not happened until 1974. In 1978 about 1000 people lived in the 150 mostly adobe houses that created the small town. That same year before el tiempo de las aguas ended, the wind began blowing and the sabino branches were moving announcing rain and telling the story of the small magical town. A new chapter to the story of Santa Rosa was being born on July 31, 1978. |

July
31, 1978
|
| It
all starts on July 31, 1978 when my friend Pasado was born. A couple of
hours after his birth his mother died. He was welcomed to this world with
tears, tears that lived in the faces of his five sisters Coraje, Apoyo,
Sacrificio, Dolor, Soledad and his brother Idolo for a long time. |
