PRACTICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS CONCENTRATION
The Practical and Professional Ethics concentration integrates applied philosophy and communication studies in the pursuit of a meaningful and successful life. Students traverse the academic terrain between the profound and the practical, asking questions such as "What is a Good Life?" and "Why Do the Right Thing?" and "How Can We All Get Along?" as they learn how to make decisions and enact their choices.
The concentration in Practical and Professional Ethics immerses students in the study of the following:
• Moral reasoning and reflection
• Ethical and effective decision making
• Oral, written and visual communication
• Theories of rights and responsibilities
• Practices of advocacy and argumentation
• Leadership, team-building and coalition models
• Interpersonal, intercultural and organizational communication

The concentration in Practical and Professional Ethics serves a wide variety of student interests. Historically, student interests cluster around the following four areas:
1. Leadership and Advocacy
2. Public Relations and Advertising
3. Social Philosophy and Applied Ethics
4. Communication Ethics and Conflict Resolution
While students may complete any three PPE courses to fulfill the concentration, the optional clusters are listed below. Consult with your advisor to determine the best course selections to match your interests.
