While learning the theory and technique of oral history, HCOM 350S strategically crafted two sets of interview questions to help gather life stories and assess the recruitment, support, and retention of first generation college students at CSUMB. They were also meant to gauge whether or not the experiences of first generation college students at CSUMB reflect the conclusions of HCOM 350S secondary readings regarding first generation college students.

• The Frosh / Sophomore Questions were used in interviews of the 1998 and 1999 FOCUS Summer Bridge participants.

• The Follow-Up Questions were used to follow-up on students who were interviewed by the HCOM 314S class in 1998.
