The Core Learning Experiences address practical, epistemological, and expressive tools necessary to successful continuance in and completion of the Major:

• Major ProSeminar (HCOM 300)

• Critical Communication Skills (HCOM 312 or HCOM 317S or 318; also meets MLO 1 and GWAR-Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement)

Note: Certification in Major ProSeminar and Critical Communication Skills is a prerequisite to all other courses in the Major.

• Pre-Capstone (HCOM 474)
• Senior Capstone (HCOM 475)

Certification in Senior Capstone is required for graduation.

Other Graduation Requirements:

The HCOM Major integrates the following University-wide graduation requirements:

• Service Learning for students who have fulfilled the Community Participation ULR and need a second SL experience; or for transfer students who have more than 56 credits (any SL-designated HCOM course)

• GWAR-Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement

• Culture and Equity ULR
