DEPTH CONCENTRATIONS
9) THE CHICANA/O - LATINA/O CONCENTRATION
The Chicana/o - Latina/o Concentration offers an intensive
interdisciplinary preparation in Chicana/o and Latino/a Studies
that includes exposure to Chicana/o and Latina/o history, literature,
and cultural studies.

The HCOM Chicana/o - Latina/o Concentration offers students
the opportunity to focus on the following areas:
- Integrative comparison of the experiences that Chicanas/os
and/or Latinas/os have historically lived and continue to live
in the U.S.;
- Analysis of power relationships which have influenced and
determined discussions about Chicanas/os and/or Latinas/os as
(a) specific racial, cultural, gendered, and/or ethnic group(s);
- In-depth study of Chicanas/os and (or) Latinas/os through
their literary production, written and oral histories, cultural,
and artistic discourses;
- Exploration of recurring themes and issues present in the
study of Chicana/o and (or) Latina/o culture and history.
