DEPTH CONCENTRATIONS
1) PRACTICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS CONCENTRATION
The Practical and Professional Ethics Concentration offers
an intensive, interdisciplinary preparation in ethical reflection
and practice in personal, social, and professional life. Students
may choose a practical or professional context, set of issues,
or theme around which to organize their study.
Through this concentration, students have the opportunity
to focus on the following:
- Power dynamics in oral, written, nonverbal, and visual communication.
- Multicultural and invitational communication theories and
practices.
- Cooperative argumentation, moral reasoning and empathic,
self-reflexive listening skills.
- Relational rights and responsibilities.
- Ethics of justice and care.
- Leadership, advocacy, and coalition-building skills.
- Ethical issues confronting business, legal, media, medical,
educational, political, and other professionals.
