Critical Communication Skills
(HCOM 312; HCOM 317 or 317S; MLO 1):

HCOM 312: Cooperative Argumentation. This course offers students a learning experience in advanced oral and written argumentation and advocacy. This learning experience stresses argumentation ethics where cooperation is valued as a means of producing fuller understanding of the issues and sources of conflict and in generating win-win outcomes for all the disputants. HCOM 312 is a course-based assessment pathway for MLO 1 (Critical Comunication Skills) and the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).

HCOM 317 or 317S: Advanced Composition and Composition Theories. This course introduces students to writing conventions, contemporary composition theories, and major forms of written expression such as expressive, interpretive, technical, rhetorical, argumentative, invitational, and creative. HCOM 317S is a Service Learning experience. HCOM 317 or 317S is a course-based assessment pathway for MLO 1 (Critical Comunication Skills), and the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).
